Splittin’ Image are one of Germany’s longest existing punk rock bands established back in 1989. During their first twenty odd years they were a well booked Support for Headliners such as Captain Sensible, UK Subs, 999, The Outcasts, Slaughter and the Dogs, Toten Hosen and many more. In 2017 major changes were made and Frontman CeeGee from England remained the only original member, complemented by Misty Missfeld (Git), Heini McGlynn (Bass) and the sweet Arianna Platania (Drums). New territories were explored without losing the raw punk rock attitude that had served them well for so long and things were looking bright until, yeah you guessed it, that hideous virus emerged. Splittin’ Image, however, would not be beaten and produced a lockdown video expressing their feelings on how the subculture was treated during the pandemic. “Save Our Culture” was a big hit and they decided to record an LP with hardly any budget due to the circumstances. A rough mix, recorded in the rehearsal room, fell into the hands of star producer Moses Schneider (Beatsteaks, Tocotronic ) and he offered to re-record live and produce a 10 song LP “ Pflicht und Kür”, which was released in November 2021. Moses went to great lengths to assure that the sound was more nineties than the clean sterile sound of modern day punk bands. Good reviews and explosive live shows set new standards and Splittin’ Image never looked back.
